Ramadan donation website checklist for UK charities
11 September 2026
Ramadan compresses a year of giving into a few weeks. The charities that cope are the ones whose donation website writes into the same records they use in January.
If last Ramadan ended with a pile of unnamed card payments and a Zakat pot you cannot reconcile, fix the website and the CRM together — not the graphics first.
Before the first page goes live
- [ ] Named funds for Zakat, Sadaqah, and any campaign (iftar, water, emergency appeal)
- [ ] Gift Aid declaration on the donation flow for UK taxpayers
- [ ] A donor record created or matched on email, not a spreadsheet of checkouts
- [ ] Confirmation of what the donor selected (type + amount) stored on the gift
- [ ] Someone responsible for refunds and failed cards during peak nights
DonorPulse’s builder publishes supporter pages on your domain and records gifts against the charity’s donors and projects. You still need to decide the funds; the software will not invent them.
On the page itself
Keep the page short. Donors on a phone at 10pm do not want a 2,000-word appeal above the amount buttons.
- State the organisation’s registered charity name and number
- Let the donor choose Zakat vs Sadaqah (and other types you actually use)
- Show Gift Aid as an optional UK-taxpayer step, not a surprise on the receipt
- Avoid mixing “donate now” with an unrelated newsletter popup that eats the tap
After Ramadan
The website’s job is not over when the last tarawih is prayed. Reconcile:
- Gifts tagged Zakat vs everything else
- Gift Aid declarations captured vs gifts included in a later claim
- Refunds and chargebacks against the original donation type
That is donor management, not web design. If you want the two connected, start from the DonorPulse features overview rather than a standalone page builder.
